Stage II™ Recovery answers are seldom found in Stage I recovery groups but, there can be no Stage II if Stage I has not been won.
Welcome to the Recovery Program at Wisdom Traditions Healthcare & Wellness Center! We would like you to know about who...

Welcome to the Recovery Program at Wisdom Traditions Healthcare & Wellness Center! We would like you to know about who we are, what to expect and how Wisdom is different than any other counseling or medical office that you have ever been to!

There are three main things that set Wisdom apart: 1) our emphasis on holistic, individualized care; 2) our Interdisciplinary Team; and 3) a strong family systems approach.

Holistic Care means that we understand that alcohol and drug use affects all aspects of our lives and that we employ a comprehensive approach to treatment. Recovery is a process that involves hard work. At times those who are suffering may even feel like giving up, but we will do everything within our power to make sure that does not happen. We promise to help you face the difficult moments and celebrate your accomplishments. Unlike some treatment programs that use a “one size fits all” plan, here at Wisdom your counselor works closely with you to create a treatment plan that meets your needs as an individual. We honor the wisdom of cross cultural traditions and encourage the awakening of the spirit.

The Wisdom Team: Our program is unique because the Wisdom Team has experts that can assist and resolve most of the problems that are either caused by or made worse by alcohol or drug use. Having an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team is a way of saying that you have experts from several different fields that can assist you in your journey of recovery. The fields of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Transformational Psychology, Neuro-Linguistics, EMDR, Energy Psychology, Physical Therapy & Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, are all combined to give you a treatment experience like no other. Our clinicians are especially selected for their high levels of professionalism and commitment, their compassionate hearts and their interest in life-long learning that ensures that you are always getting the most up-to-date, best practices of care. We are able to treat anything from physical injuries and chronic pain that may be causing difficulties, to depression, anxiety or other past traumas that could be complicating your life. Your Recovery Experience can go as deeply as you allow.

About the name…In choosing the name Wisdom Traditions, we intentionally acknowledge that there are a variety of traditions, both in the present day and throughout history, that are created to heal the mind, body and soul. Even the very word “psychotherapy” has its roots within the ancient Greek psychē, meaning breath, spirit, or soul and therapeia, to heal or cure. Thus, psychotherapy literally is about “healing the soul.” From Eastern and Western healing traditions and Native Ways of Knowing, to the cutting-edge of modern science, we gratefully acknowledge and integrate these methods, as appropriate, in all aspects of your treatment.

Family Systems Approach: There’s a famous saying that, “No one is an island.” We all came from somewhere; whether a traditional or blended family, whether being partnered, married or divorced; we all belong to a system of some kind. Even our workplace ends up being a system of many types of relationships. We also know that our family is deeply affected by the consequences of their loved one’s alcohol or drug use and that they deserve support too. We want your family and close friends to feel included in your recovery by providing private marriage and family counseling sessions, as well as monthly Family-oriented Workshops as a part of your program. We care about the people who you care about the most.

Thank you for choosing Wisdom Traditions for your treatment needs. Feel free to call us with any questions or concerns. And, again, welcome to Wisdom!

What Science Says: A unique medical device – the combination of Negative Healthy Ions, Amethyst Quartz, and Far Infrared Rays....

What Science Says:

A unique medical device – the combination of Negative Healthy Ions, Amethyst Quartz, and Far Infrared Rays.

Far Infrared Rays

Like Ultra-violet rays, Far Infrared rays are just outside the human visual field. Infrared rays have a special ability to easily penetrate human tissue, a reasons we like the sun, or a warm fireplace.

Relieves Pain, Improves Soft Tissue Healing, Relaxes Muscles

Dr. Masao Nakamura, of the O & P Medical Clinic in Japan, has reported great success with the use of Far Infrared treatment for whiplash, rheumatism, insomnia, menopause, sciatica, acne, shoulder stiffness, arthritis, …

Improves Circulation

Relaxes the circulatory system allowing more efficient and increased bioavailability of nutrients and oxygen.

Enhances Immune Systems

“Give me a fever, and I can cure any illness.” — Hippocrates

Weight Loss and Detoxification assists through increasing the metabolism to disrupt fat deposits and stored toxins allowing elimination from the body. A high setting on the BioMat can burn calories and detox the body through a comfortable sweat.

“Far Infrared waves have the ability to remove toxins, which are often at the core of many health problems.” Dr. Toshiko Yamazaki, MD.

Far Infrared saunas have been used for years for healing properties, though a BioMat offers a resting posture, a cool head and multiple contact areas with more flexibility, plus the benefits of healthy ions.

Amethyst

Is a Beautiful Purple to Clear Semi-precious stone in the Quartz family, believed to have properties to soothe the nervous system and heal the body.

The name Amethyst comes from Ancient Greek “not intoxicated”, used in the private baths of Ancient Greek “healing” centers. Richway International uses Amethyst in the BioMat to increase and enhance the distribution of infrared rays, warmth and healthy ion emission.

Healthy Negative Ions

Ions are the power switches for healthy communication at a cellular level. – Nobel Prize in Physiology /Medicine 1991 awarded jointly to Erwin Neher and Bert Sakmann.

Many Studies in Japan acknowledged pain relieving efficiency of negative ions:

• Pain Research Institute in Japan, Dr. Nagamo, MD and Dr. Maiyama, MD,

• Kumamoto Hospital Japan, Dr. Nagayama of the Kyoto Pain Research Institute found the pain relieving efficiency of the negative Ion had a notable effect on most headache and neuralgia cases.

• Clinical research at a Tokyo Dental College Hospital sponsored by the Japan Red Cross in Shinjuku found that negative Ions have a positive effect in the control of the nervous system in the relief of tension.

Alleviate symptoms of Anxiety & Depression

“Negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness and more mental energy” Pierce J. Howard, PhD

When a Bio-Mat is on , even without temperature, it will emit negative ions into the room enhancing healthy air quality.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Five Elements are used to describe the balance in the body, mind and emotions. This system is very useful to assist in planning the progress of recovery in emotional health. The arrows demonstrate a creation cycle where one element assists the health of the next. The dotted lines show injurious flow.

Non-Balanced examples:
#1 Unresolved Grief. Grief falls under the category of Metal, related to the Lung and if repressed can lead to stagnation of the Metal element that does not feed Water and overflows pressure to stop the “growth” of Wood. This person would demonstrate fatigue and limited growth in life.

#2 Anger. Anger falls into the category of Wood, related to the Liver and if repressed can lead to depression of Fire (no joy) if overly expressed it would flare-up Fire or overflow to Earth increasing anxiety. In Chinese Medicine, Emotional and Mental Health are closely related to physical health of all systems. A person with adrenal fatigue is given treatments to increase vitality therefore decreasing depression of Wood, and another might be given treatments to release anger through acupuncture to decrease the negative effects on Earth Element.
At Wisdom Traditions we provide close communication between our Acupuncturists and Community Referrals to enhance clients emotional and behavioral health through the exquisite system of Chinese Medicine.

Individually meeting with a well trained Counselor is an extremely gratifying, and potentially life-changing, experience. Let’s face it. How often are you able to express all your dreams, all your fears, and all your hopes to another person, assured that you will receive total acceptance and non-judgment in return? What would it be like to have an objective listener? Visiting with a professional and brainstorm ideas for problem-solving personal, relationship or even career concerns, and receiving active feedback in return can be rewarding.

The word “psychotherapy”, first used around the year 1890, comes from the ancient Greek words psychē, meaning breath, spirit, or soul and therapeia or therapeuein, to heal or cure. Thus, psychotherapy literally was coined as “healing the spirit and soul”.

At Wisdom, the counselors combine years of experience with personalities that are easy-going and well-grounded.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
CBT? What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy? To explain let me ask you a question: When you are upset, do you usually think your way into a new way of feeling, or do you feel your way into a new way of thinking?

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
DBT was developed by Marsha Linehan of Seattle, WA in the early 1990’s. Research indicates it is highly effective in helping people who experience a variety of symptoms and behaviors associated with depression and other mood disorders such as Bipolar Disorder, among other.

Relationship and Family Therapy
Unlike the other conventional psychological theories which focus only on the individual, Family Systems Theory encourages people to think of issues (e.g. conflict, difficult relationships, loneliness, etc.) in terms of a multigenerational family or a “system.”

Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis that is used in a safe, healing, therapeutic environment by a trained professional is considered Hypnotherapy. It is a state of inner absorption, concentration and focused attention. When our minds are concentrated and focused, we are able to use them more powerfully.

Neuro-Lingustic Programming
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the study of human excellence. NLP is the ability to be your best more often, and a powerful, practical approach to personal change.
Emotional Freedom Technique
EFT is a new discovery that has provided thousands with relief from pain, diseases and emotional issues. Simply stated, it is a unique version of acupuncture except you don’t use needles. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips.

Energy Psychology
Energy Psychology and Energy Psychotherapy are innovative methods stemming form cutting-edge developments in the fields of acupuncture, medicine, psychology, chiropractic and kinesiology.
